Kendal man arrested following early morning flat fire

A 61-YEAR-OLD Kendal man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing arson to endanger life following an early morning incident on the town's Sandylands estate today.
Police say a 35-year-old woman is in a critical condition in Wythenshaw Hospital, Manchester, with serious burns.
It follows a fire at a flat in Crag View, Kendal, shortly after midnight. The woman was initially taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but later transferred to the Manchester hospital.
The man is currently being treated at Furness General Hospital while officers continue their enquiries. Police are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the Crag View area of Kendal at around midnight on Thursday 26th January into the early hours of Friday 27th January 2012 to contact them.
