Tribute paid to Alderman of Lancashire following his death

Tribute has been paid to David Wood, an Alderman of Lancashire, who passed away last weekend.
The retired teacher from Carnforth died aged 82 with his wife Connie, and four sons.
He was a Lancashire county councillor between 1989 and 2005 and his achievements were recognised in 2005 when he was made an Honorary Aldermen of Lancashire.
Coun cllr Geoff Driver, leader of Lancashire County Council, said he did a ‘tremendous’ job and coun cllr Albert Atkinson, said: "David was a great character. Outside of politics, he had a very interesting career and would tell stories of his time as a writer while he served on the HMS Belfast during the Korean War. He was also a member of the HMS Belfast association.
“During his time in the navy, he became a keen swimmer and took part in several competitions.”
Former Alderman David Wood's funeral will be held at 1.30pm on Monday, February 27, at St Cuthbert's Church, Over Kellet.
It will be followed by his burial in the church yard.
