KENDAL Swimming Club’s Taylor Aplin continued her fine form as she produced two record breaking swims at the club’s 2012 championships.

Aplin proved to be an outstanding winner in the girls U11 50m freestyle as she set a time of 36.13 to emerge as fastest qualifier for the final.

And she went on to give a second powerful display to lower her time to 36.12 on her way to victory.

Megan Jones (42.17) lifted the silver medal followed by Erin Bagge (47.73) taking bronze.

The boys final proved to be an entirely different affair with all six swimmers locked together over the first length and it became a case of who wanted it over the final 25m.

Driving for the wall it was Jacob Mathews (43.41) who got the verdict over Oliver Sargeant (43.90) and James Sanders (44.33).

In the girls 25m backstroke leg of the U10 championship current champion Megan Jones made her first bid to retain her trophy by surging to a win in 21.77, ahead of Josie Johnson (26.14) and Rosie Swallow (27.50).

The boys event saw James Sanders (22.60) outpace Louie Tideswell (23.62) and Thomas Duke (30.12).

Another fantastic race saw Nicola Capstick, Ella Mounsey and Aplin vie for the U12 girls 100m title.

Shoulder to shoulder they were superb, showing great skill through their turns and transitions, but Capstick (1.33.75) triumphed in a storming finish over Mounsey (1.33.81) and Aplin (1.36.93).

The boys event saw swimmers get away to a fast start but it was Oliver Sargeant who put himself on the front and quickly finding his rhythm began to pull well clear.

Maintaining his composure he drove to the finish to win with a degree of ease in 1.46.45.
